Household water capacity for constrained development

Build Where Water Says No.

DomaViv is developing a localized, source-agnostic household water recovery system designed to reduce external water demand by conserving water and recovering defined non-toilet household wastewater.

The development constraint

Water capacity can become a constraint before a home is ever built.

Projects can be delayed, reduced, redesigned, or ruled out when water supply, wastewater infrastructure, or assured capacity cannot support planned demand.

1

Supply constraint

Available sources may not support planned household demand, project scale, or schedule.

2

Single-use demand

Each gallon is often used once before it leaves the household system.

3

Infrastructure burden

Added centralized capacity can be costly, slow, and difficult to approve.

The DomaViv response

Localized recovery. Source-agnostic by design.

The DomaViv concept is designed to work with an appropriate available source—municipal water, well water, hauled water, rainwater, condensate, or a future atmospheric source—while conserving use and recovering defined non-toilet household wastewater.

The objective is a measurable household water loop that complements site conditions, applicable requirements, and conventional backup.
✓

Work with the available source

The first proof does not depend on one source-water technology.

✓

Recover defined household flows

Non-toilet wastewater is separated for controlled recovery, measurement, and testing.

✓

Keep human waste outside the loop

Sanitation is treated as a boundary condition, not as recoverable water for this program.

Initial proof

Prove the conservation loop first.

The first program is intended to test whether defined non-toilet household wastewater can be recovered, reconditioned, measured, and controlled under representative conditions.

Conceptual system boundary
SourceAppropriate available supply
Household useConservation measures
Defined captureNon-toilet wastewater only
ReconditionTreatment, monitoring, and quality gating
Reuse or divertControlled return, retreatment, or backup

Human waste is excluded from the recoverable water loop.

1

Demand avoided

How much external water demand can the defined loop avoid?

2

Variable constituents

How do surfactants and changing household inputs affect treatment and sensing?

3

Quality gating

Which measurements can support reliable release, diversion, and fail-safe control?

4

Operating burden

What are the energy, maintenance, consumable, and service implications?

Evidence comes before performance, safety, certification, or deployment claims.

Parallel research

Source-water research continues in parallel.

Atmospheric water generation remains a DomaViv research track and may become one future source of make-up water. It is not required to prove the household conservation and recovery loop.

Separate proof

The conservation loop can be tested with an appropriate available source.

Separate evidence

AWG performance advances on its own technical validation path.

Separate funding

Each track moves when evidence, resources, and partner value support it.

Partnership paths

Help define and validate the evidence that development requires.

A first conversation determines fit, evidence needs, available contribution, decision process, and a responsible next step.

Developer

Project definition

Translate a real development constraint into requirements for the shared validation program.

  • Demand assumptions
  • Constraint and stakeholder map
  • Evidence and decision requirements
Sponsor

Sponsored validation

Fund or materially support a defined proof question under a negotiated written scope.

  • Milestones and reporting
  • Access and contribution
  • Rights and next-step criteria
Technical

Equipment, testing, or research

Contribute relevant capability through a credible exchange of value.

  • Engineering and components
  • Instrumentation and data interfaces
  • Protocols, test access, and analysis

Who should partner

One focused program. Six ways to contribute.

DomaViv is looking for organizations that bring a real constraint, technical capability, testing resource, equipment contribution, or strategic interest.

Developers

Bring an actual site or portfolio water-capacity question.

Homebuilders

Define installation, customer, warranty, and operating requirements.

Equipment partners

Offer components, engineering, interfaces, test access, or commercial terms.

Laboratories & universities

Help define protocols, analysis, testing, and independent evidence.

Water organizations

Clarify evidence, operating, stakeholder, and decision requirements.

Strategic funders

Support a bounded validation program through a private conversation.

Team

Accountable leadership across market, technical, and execution.

Explore a development partnership

Bring the constraint. Let’s define the evidence.

Tell us what is limiting the project, what capability you can contribute, or what decision the validation must support. The first conversation is about fit and a responsible next step.
